There are three BIG wedding business website mistakes that too many awesome wedding pros make – and we don’t want you to make them, too!

We often get requests from wedding pros to take a peek at their site, and nearly every time, we’ll see at least one of these three wedding business website mistakes:

  1. Putting too much effort into looks, and not enough into sales. Many of you are more concerned with the way that your website looks, making sure that it’s pretty, and it has all of these gorgeous fonts and images and things like that.

But the problem is if you’re not doing the work of leading them toward a sale, you’re not going to end up getting the result that you want – which is a sale!

So here’s how to fix it: Your leads DO need to like what they see (one of the big principles we talk about all the time!), so your site needs to at least look fairly modern and not super outdated.

But more importantly, you need to make sure that you have the right information on your website to make sure they know how to get in touch with you, what you do and who you can serve.

This includes calls to action in several parts of the website, as well as clear images and text on your website (which we’ll cover in just a moment).
  2. Not having enough clear calls to action. What does this mean? Well, first, you need to know that the prime real estate in your website is in the upper right-hand corner – and that is where you need to make sure that you have some sort of a call to action button: “Contact us,” “Book a consultation,” “Schedule a tour,” etc.

The goal is to move them closer to a conversation with you, which will lead to a sale – so you DEFINITELY need to make sure that you have that contact information in that key area.

However, you also need to make sure it’s in several other places on your website as well – including on your main image (or just below it), AND halfway down your homepage.

This is very important because so many wedding pros make MASSIVE wedding business website mistakes of putting just one call to action on their website…and it’s often buried at the bottom of the site – where few to no people will ever see it, because hardly anyone makes it all the way down to the bottom of a website now.
  3. Images and text that don’t clearly communicate who you like to work with, and what you do. Both the images AND the words on your website need to clearly communicate this – BEFORE THEY CAN SCROLL.

Research shows that when a lead lands on your website, you have six to eight seconds for them to decide whether they want to stick around and learn more about you, or if they’re going to click away and go find somebody else. So we need to make it super clear for them to know what you do and how you can help them.
