Mistakes happen. It’s a natural part of life, and no matter how hard you try you can’t make everything go perfectly all the time. So how do you prepare and deal with things when they go wrong? Hopefully it’s not by beating yourself up, or destroying the instrument you used when you made the mistake.
Dealing with mistakes in a wedding business is no fun. It might be something little, or something big, but it sets you back in your productivity, and if it’s a big enough mistake, it can cost you money and business. The first step is to make sure that you backup all of your information. That means if you are rebuilding your website do it off the server and retain the original version of your website until the new version is ready to launch. Depending on your business you might need backups of your back ups. Meaning a digital backup and a hard copy back up. This doesn’t just apply to the computer however. If you’ve created the perfect invitation, or taken the perfect photograph, keep the original with notes on how you did it so that you can re-produce it. Don’t get rid of the original.
The second thing you need to do is to think through how you can avoid the mistake in the first place as Sacha Chua points out in her blog. As I heard often growing up, you don’t want to shoot yourself in the foot.
