How A Wedding Business Can Use Twitter And Build A Following

To_Tweet

People often get frustrated with understanding how Twitter works, and how to get it to work for a business. When it comes to your wedding business the goal is to get as many targeted Twitter followers as possible. Your target is the bridal market, and specifically brides who are ready to book.

So how do you find these brides? The first thing is to make sure you are posting fun and helpful Tweets. From there you can find the brides by following other big wedding brides like The Knot. Then you want to follow their followers, but make sure you keep to following only 50 people max per day. Of course this leads to clutter in your list. Your end goal is to have more targeted followers than people you are following. If you need help in keeping your Twitter account clean and organized make sure to view the slide show by Elijah Daniel.

Remember, Twitter is like every other social network. The goal is to be social, and to keep your addition of followers and your following organic. Don’t spam people! Brides are looking for a trustworthy business to work with them so make sure you do everything you can to hold their trust. What do you think? Have you found a great way to grow your Twitter account and build your business through Twitter?

How To Post Wisely with Social Media

Microphone

Social media sounds like it should be a safe place where you can vent your opinions and not get in trouble for it. Well, regardless of how it sounds it just isn’t true. You may have a tiny bit more freedom when it comes to your personal profiles, the rules to social media posting still hold true, and on your professional profiles it is even more crucial to keep it clean.

So what does keeping it clean mean on social media? There is the obvious which is no swearing. But according to Tonya Nelson’s article it goes much deeper. Wait until the cleanup is complete from disasters before you even attempt to make a joke about a tragedy. Even then it is generally better to just never joke about it as there will always be people who will take offense. Don’t vent your feelings about sporting events. No matter which team you’re rooting for, a huge chunk of your clients are rooting for the other team. This applies to more than just sport teams though. Just don’t ever use your status update to rant about ANYTHING. Keep it professional. Remember that everyone reading what you say is human, and they expect you to maintain neutral ground and not attack them.

How You Can Lose Money by Tweeting

girl-with-cash

Twitter is obviously a great way to drum up business and gain leads for your wedding business. But the unfortunate reality is that you can unintentionally set the domino effect into motion without even knowing it and lose money.

If you haven’t been keeping up with Twitter news you may not have heard about the rising amount of libel by twitter suits. According to Kai Falkenberg there is a slowly rising tide of law suits against people on twitter who post libelous Tweets against other people. No Twitter comment is “private” and as a result something that you Tweet can be viewed by the immediate world. Unless you want to run the risk of ending up in court and paying an exorbitant amount of money for your 140 character update, you might want to make sure you think before posting.

Missed Social Media Lead Generation Opportunities

bashful-bride

You have a great website, an amazing newsletter set up, and Facebook and Twitter pages. But is this where social media ends? Actually, no it’s not. The whole purpose of using social media for your wedding business is to generate leads.

For your Facebook fan page, you need to make sure it has a great landing page with a sign up for your newsletter. Otherwise your Facebook page will lose leads instead of gaining new ones.

If you have a website, you should also have a blog as one of the pages. A website with a blog actually gets 55% more traffic, and if you have CTA’s at the end of each blog post that will majorly increase the number of leads you are getting from your website. Why you should use Twitter

Networking

Twitter is often considered a social network that you can basically use as a billboard advertising your business. While that can be one of its uses, anyone, especially if you are in the wedding industry, should use it for what it was created for: Networking.

Case in point: Instead of just pitching your product or company in your tweets, try using the 1,2 punch recommended by Miriam Salpeter CNN-named “top 10 job tweeter” in her blog. Find someone that you want to network with such as a wedding planner, or country club. Send a Tweet out to them asking them a legitimate question. Then, after they have responded either send them a DM to continue the conversation, or go right to emailing them. People and companies are much more likely to respond and want to connect with you if you have built a relationship first, rather than going directly to promoting yourself to them.

How To Use The Rule of Twitter Anticipation

Twitter is a huge building block on promoting events, products, and companies. In fact, in the last few years it has builtKim_Kardashian up to a point where companies and celebrities are realizing that they can create a frenzy of excitement amongst their fans ahead of the release of the product, or date of the event. They are able to do this through building anticipation about the event or product as they draw closer and closer to the release date.

You can Tweet in under a minute, and with one Tweet a day that makes it totally worth it to use Twitter in promoting your event or product. Mark Pasetsky evaluated how Kim Kardashian effectively used the rule of Twitter anticipation leading up to the release of her first single. Starts slow by telling your followers what is coming, and then build the anticipation by posting links to pictures, keeping them updated and increasing the number of Tweets per day during the last week.

How long a day does it take you to post Facebook fan Page updates, Tweets, etc.? For most wedding businesses itarticles becomes next to impossible to keep all the social networks up to date due to the time involved in getting those posts up.

Hootsuite is one of the best platforms out there built to smooth out this process.
