The Driving Force Behind Growing A Successful Wedding Business Is Your Schedule

As a wedding vendor you are very used to scheduling in couples for consultations and meetings. But what about everything else that you do? Without a planned out schedule it’s incredibly easy to get off track from what needs done. The smaller your business is, the more critical it is that you prioritize what needs to be done and keep yourself on track. While larger companies have a larger work force to do things, and a wider margin for error, you as a solopreneur do not. But there is a lot more behind why you need a planned out schedule.

Keeping yourself on track is important, but when you are growing a wedding business it is important to have the ability to plan out what you need to do to become more successful. From there scheduling each move into your calendar helps ensure that your business is constantly moving forward rather than just stagnating. For a look into the day in the life of another entrepreneur check out this article by Lauren Drell and make sure to watch the video! What do you think? Are there some changes that you could make to your schedule that would help your business?

Run Your Wedding Business – Don’t Treat It As A Job

Welcome to the crazy world of owning your own wedding business! As you’ve come to realize, there are a lot of challenges to running your wedding business. It isn’t simple. You are now in charge of every single decision that has to be made which can be challenging. But if you are up to the challenge running a business is rewarding and can be quite fun.

The starting place is to be open to a major mental change in regards to how you view your work. It isn’t a job. It’s a business. A job is something that you show up and do day after day. Someone else is in charge of your life, and you have a standard set of things you do all the time. A business on the other hand is like the full piece of machinery. You’re not a cog in the works; you run the entire thing, make the decisions and control what happens. If you treat it as a job your business will go nowhere and you will be controlled by every whim a bride has. This is exhausting and can destroy your business. On the other hand if you take control and run it as a business you can set the rules and procedures to build a successful, thriving business that will last for years to come. Make sure to read the article by Susan Ward for info on the 6 traits you need to develop to run your own business. What do you think?

To Do Something Big You Must First Fail

Business_Man_In_MudIf you’re here it’s probably because you are struggling with getting your wedding business off the ground and want to turn it into a successful business. Failure is something that most businesses deal with at one time or another. The earlier they deal with failure, the stronger they grow as long as they understand the importance of that failure.

Overcoming failure is a strength that proves your metal. It means you are passionate about your business and understand the importance of trying something that may or may not work. Business is a risk. Those who are successful at it have learned how to turn the fear of failure into motivation to do something big. Sure there are people who have become successful overnight. Some of them last, but those who have had success handed to them do not. As Jonathan points out in his article you’ve got to dream big, and then follow through on that dream. Don’t let the fear of failure slow you down, let it motivate you to do something great. What do you think?

How To Build Your Wedding Business Without Getting Sucked Into Bad Ideas

Running_With_BalloonsI’ve listened to a ton of webinars in the last few years, and I’m guessing that is what you are doing about now as well. The problem is that unless you are listening to the right webinar from the right person or company who understands your business you are going to get a ton of horrible advice.

For instance, in the last few weeks I’ve had to talk my sister out of three different business ideas. Were they bad ideas? Absolutely not. But neither did they apply to her business. Being an entrepreneur is different than being in the fifth year of running a large company. Where they can get away with hiring people for every position, it is your responsibility to just go ahead and do the work yourself if you want to see your business make money.

You see, there is this breakdown in thought. It’s this circular pattern of thought that to make money you have to spend money, and then we apply that to every aspect of the business. The truth is that while you do have to spend some money, on some things, you don’t need to spend money on most things. Focus your money on the basics such as your website, marketing, and products. Worry about the rest when your business needs it. Make sure to read the article by James Altucher for some awesome tips on how to survive the early years of building a business. What do you think?

The Importance Of Taking Time To Relax

RelaxingOver the holidays most entrepreneurs make sure there is some time, whether a day, or an entire week to take a break, rest, and party. But what about the rest of the year? Building and running a business is hard work, and it’s easy to get sucked into the idea that you have to work, all the time, in order to be successful.

While it’s true that you do have to work hard to build a business you still have to make sure that you take breaks to relax away from your business or you are going to burn out before your business hits the true “success” point. Not only is taking a break good for your health, it also helps you be more focused and have those creative moments that keep a business moving forward. While it may not be the social norm to take breaks and relax the truth is that no wedding business owner can afford not to take those breaks. Make sure to read Dr.Mani’s article on the importance of relaxing for more information. What do you think? Have you found ways to give yourself breaks throughout the year?
